Curator Talk: Keith Achepohl
Thursday, March 2
Keith Achepohl, artist, collector and UI professor emeritus, will explore the recent economic and political changes in Turkey that have profoundly affected nomadic life. He will illustrate his talk with examples of the glories that the nomadic existence has produced, specifically as they relate to the textile tradition. This program is in conjunction with the exhibition Turkish Textiles, curated by Vero Rose Smith and Keith Achepohl, and organized by Legacies for Iowa: A University of Iowa Museum of Art Collections-Sharing Project, supported by the Matthew Bucksbaum Family.
The exhibition will be on display at the Figge Art Museum until April 9, 2017.
