Join Dr. Ranelle Knight-Lueth, assistant professor at Coe College, for a four-week online course focusing on the women who worked behind the scenes or with little recognition and were instrumental in building America's artistic scene.

Design Inspiration (Virtual)
Wednesdays, March 10-31, 6–7:30 p.m.

To coincide with the exhibition, For America: 200 Years of Painting from the National Academy of Design​, explore various ways of inventing new designs in this virtual class! Using composition basics, this class will work with various sources including nature, geometric design, global influences, and other departure points. Construct in collage and draw. Pencil, markers, scissors, paper, glue and a few other basic supplies will be needed. Some resource materials will be sent via email attachments.

Open your heart and mind to the creative process. Inspired by the traditional form of the mandala, this class allows self-exploration using the circle.

A is for Art - Virtual
Tuesdays, March 16-April 27, 11 a.m. CT

Preschoolers (ages 3-5) are invited to join Figge educator Laura Wriedt over Zoom for lively discussions about what we see in art. Each week will highlight works from the exhibition For America and provide an opportunity to share thoughts and observations through the eyes of our youngest art experts. Sessions will last roughly 20 minutes and will be limited to 12 registrants.

Drawing Basics: Heads and Hands - Virtual
Tuesdays, March 23-April 13, 6-7:30 p.m. CT

Learn from the works of a master. Andrew Wyeth, a featured artist in the For America exhibition, spent 15 years creating more than 240 works of one model, Helga Testorf. These pictures will be the basis for pencil studies to develop skills in drawing heads and hands. Registrants will receive an e-mail with a Zoom link two hours prior to the class.

Refunds and Transfers

Will be granted 10 or more business days before a class is scheduled to start. Refunds and transfers may be given after that time if requested, per the museum’s discretion. Please contact us at 563.345.6654

Cancellation and Schedule Changes

The museum reserves the right to cancel classes when minimum enrollment is not met one week prior to its starting date. In addition, changes may be made to the class and/or instructor listed. In event of inclement weather, call us at 563.345.6654 or watch the local television for updates. Alternate times for classes cancelled due to weather are at the discretion of the museum. All classes may not have the opportunity to reschedule.

The Figge Art Museum opened on August 6, 2005, and is the renamed successor to the Davenport Museum of Art, which was opened on October 10, 1928, as the Davenport Municipal Art Gallery.
