The Figge's Big Picture program is back for the summer!  Join us for five weeks of virtual programming streamed live from the museum. Each week will feature a new lesson and hands-on activity based around Figge exhibitions and collections.  This program is suggested for ages 6-12 years old (younger children are required to have an adult helper).

Upon registration, participants will receive a welcome email with a Zoom video chat link for the weekly session.  A supply list for the art making portion of the lesson can be accessed below.

  • Week 3 (July 22, 2020) Have fun expressing your own personality through clay while learning about the exhibit, About Face: Contemporary Ceramic Sculpture.  Make your own salt dough before creating a sculpture of self-expression.

  • Week 4 (July 29, 2020) Why are we so fascinated with places we cannot reach? Historically, the West was thought to be a mysterious and fantastically place full of grand adventures and new opportunities. Join us as we explore our never-ending interest in the West through our discussion of the brand new Magnetic West exhibition, later creating collages based on our own mysterious places.

  • Week 5 (August 5, 2020) Have you ever wondered what we keep in our outreach collection? In our last session of the summer, we will bring out several of our outreach objects, including some pieces students may have never seen before. We will draw inspiration from the collection’s oldest member, the African masks, and make our own masks in their honor.
