Grant Wood
U.S. 1891-1942The Spotted Man 75.0014
Spotted Man was one of the few works left in Wood's personal collection at his death. It was painted in Paris during Wood's year of enrollment at the Académie Julien. It demonstrates not only the academic approach to painting-learning to draw and paint from the nude, but displays Wood's early approach to color and brushwork-methodical and attentive to all areas of the canvas.
