(February 3, 2016) – Since 1955, the Rock Island Art Guild, a volunteer-run organization, has supported the arts in the Quad City region through exhibitions, educational programs and scholarships. The 39th Rock Island Art Guild Fine Arts Exhibition is the latest exhibition and it will open on Saturday at the Figge Art Museum.
This juried guild exhibition was open to artists within a 150-mile radius of the Quad Cities and each artist was encouraged to enter up to two original works of art that must have been created in the last five years. A total of 44 artists were selected by juror Julie Rodrigues Widholm, the director of DePaul Art Museum in Chicago. The selected works will be on view in the fourth floor gallery through May 15, 2016.
Participating artists include: Leslie Bell, Sue Berkey, Jessica Bingham, Sara Slee Brown, Linda Buechting, Jim Davis, Amy Donaldson, Heidi Draley McFall, Frje Echeverria, Pamela Echeverria, David Fleming, Lynn Giles, Fritz Goeckner, Roxanne Green, Kathryn Hagy, Raphael Iaccarino, Ananda Kesler, Holly Kimball, Lee Kimball, Dean Kugler, Nancy Lindsay, Julie Nelson, Tybre Newcomer, Pam Ohnemus, Erik Ohrn, Antonio Ortiz Valverde, Daniel Peterson, Cozette Phillips, Matt Pulford, Sandra Riegal-Wilson, David Rose, Corrine Smith, Joan Soppe, Andrew Starenko, Jessica Teckemeyer, Wendy Van Dyke, Evan Ventris, Tom Voss, Rosalie Waranius Vass, Joan Webster-Vore, Margaret Whiting, Amber Williams, Eric Wolever and Peter Xiao.
In addition to selecting the works for the exhibition at the Figge, juror Julie Rodrigues Widholm is also selecting the artists who will receive awards.

About the Rock Island Art Guild:
The Rock Island Art Guild was founded in 1955 and meant to foster an interest in local art talent through the Rock Island Fine Arts Exhibition. Since then the Art Guild has grown to incorporate Art programs at the elementary, junior high and high school level through contests and scholarships.
About the Figge Art Museum
The Figge Art Museum is located on the riverfront in downtown Davenport at 225 West Second Street. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday and Sundays noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays the museum is open until 9 p.m. Admission to the museum and tour is $7.
