Boy was the highest-grossing film of all time in New Zealand. Internationally, it earned over $43 million, while ticket sales in the U.S. totaled a mere quarter of a million dollars. Director, screenwriter, actor Taika Waititi went on to enjoy significant critical and commercial success in 2019 with JoJo Rabbit.
